Queen Kathryn Bernardo For Generation Happy Skin

If you’re a beauty lover like me, Happy Skin Cosmetics must have been part of your basic makeup kit too. It was love at first swipe when I swatched their Shut Up & Kiss Me Lippie in Mistletoe Kiss back in year 2014 simply because it made my lips look its best.

Since then, I’ve always been a fan and I’ve always patronize their products-- from their first makeup line, skin care line, iconic Disney and Sanrio collections, nail polish line which I’ve reviewed last year here, to their limited edition collaboration with chinita beauty Heart Evangelista, and now, I’m so happy that they’ve launched an all-new diffusion cosmetics line called Generation Happy Skin with one of my favorite actresses in the Philippines, queen Kathryn Bernardo. Another back story about my love for Happy Skin was that I applied for a position in their company during their start-up days and failed to get in, but I still love them anyway because I believe in their brand, a brand that really cares for my skin. Imagine my excitement when I got invited as one of the bloggers for the launch of #KathXHappySkin. This is me and my blogger bestie Iris all smiles with Kathryn Bernardo after trying her collection. :D

Kathryn's Generation Happy Skin's aim is more for the new breed of women who believe that good skin is a priority. It's for people who are after effortless, everyday makeup that don't need a lot to look beautiful. The collection took 2 years to materialize and was developed specifically to reflect Kath's personality: authentic, ace and accessible.

What makes Kathryn the perfect makeup collaborator for Generation Happy Skin is that she has a classic approach to beauty and fashion and keeps herself grounded in who she is: completely confident in her simplicity. And doing this collaboration is the best avenue to express and share her belief that simple can be beautiful.

Inspired by this, the six-piece Generation Happy Skin collection showcases more dressed-down packaging and straightforward product names compared to its big sister Happy Skin Cosmetics. I actually admire how Kathryn really poured her heart out on every detail--the pastel color palette, and the product names.

You'll know it's her creation too based on the shades that she uses for her everyday makeup which is very light and natural, with peachy, nude tones. She even tested the formulas herself and wore it to different shoots and show tapings.

Based on that, Generation Happy Skin included a natural-finish powder foundation, a long-lasting matte lipstick, a highly-pigmented lip & cheek tint, a super blendable powder blush, a volumizing, no-clump mascara, and a universal, easy-to-use brow liner. She explained on stage that eyeshadow is not included in her collection because she doesn't put eyeshadow on a daily basis. And that is so me too! :) Now, we can easily achieve Kathryn's signature look, the "no makeup, makeup look" in all the six-piece set.

And guess what? It wasn't also enough for her to create the formulas and packaging that just work-- they had to work well. That's why Generation Happy Skin, like all of Happy Skin's products, are created only in beauty capitals like Korea and Taiwan. Kathryn shares, "With Generation Happy Skin, I know that I can look beautiful and the makeup won't damage my skin. That's hard to find in makeup nowadays."

After ace-ing the quality of the products, she made sure that her collection fit to different skin tones, including morenas like her and had accessible price points so that her fans can get their hands on the new line. Not a single product is priced above Php499! Great news for all madames on a budget! :)

Stay Fresh Weightless Pressed Powder in Light Beige, Medium Beige & Natural Beige (P499) – Covers up imperfections, while maintaining a natural finish. Kathryn personally wears the Medium Beige shade. I think I'm a Light Beige.

My Lips But Better Ultra Matte Lippie in Authenticity, Courage, Moxie, Spunk & Wonder (P399) – Lasts for long, hydrates for long. Kathryn’s favorite shade is the peachy Spunk. But she is wearing Wonder during the launch. My fave would be Authenticity. :)

Kiss & Bloom Water Lip & Cheek Tint in Dainty, Fearless, Prim & Serene (P299) – Highly pigmented with a natural watercolor finish. In all her shoots, Kathryn applies her own lip tint. Her rule? A little goes a long way and always make sure to blend for a natural finish. Kath mixes Fearless and Prim to get a different look. I got Serene shade.

Instant Glow Longwear Powder Blush in Freedom and Love (P399) – Gives a blendable, radiant-looking flush. Kathryn fell in love with and approved the very first samples of both blushes.

Extra Drama Volumizing Mascara (P499) – For dramatic, yet natural-looking lashes. Mascara is the one makeup product Kathryn can’t live without. It was only after three sample passes that she gave the go signal to produce her dream formula.

Perfect Brows Long-Lasting Liquid Pen (P399) – Comes in a universal brown color and has a sweat-proof formula. This one’s key to achieving Kathryn’s trademark brow look. I got one too and I'll try it out soon but according to Kimi of Happy Skin, using the eyebrow pen gives an effect as if you had your brows microbladed this is because of the super thin, fine, and precise strokes of the pen. And because it’s smudgeproof and can last the whole day. But it does come off with make up remover.
